OCDSB Trustee report: Braunovan selected as school board vice-chair

by Erica Braunovan
Trustee, Kitchissippi/Somerset

Earlier this month, my fellow school board trustees selected me as the board’s vice-chair. I had asked to be considered for this role so that I could take on more capacity for leadership and advocacy for students, schools and our communities.

By accepting the vice-chair role, I reaffirm a commitment I made two years ago during the municipal election: to advocate for and promote equity. It is my fundamental belief that all children must have equitable access to quality education —and that will forever guide my work as trustee. I will also continue to work for improvements to special education and student well-being.

I deeply understand that I am not a trustee for myself: I am a trustee for our community’s kids and families.

As vice-chair, I will promote respectful and collaborative working relationships among the board, school staff, parents and the community. I will ensure that kids remain at the centre of all relationships.

As always, thank you for putting your trust in me to represent you on the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me at erica.braunovan@ocdsb.ca.
